Barack Hussein Obama II born August 4, 1961 (There is dispute regarding his place of birth) is the 44th and current President of the United States. The first African American to hold the office, Obama had previously been the junior United States Senator from Illinois, serving from January 2005 until November 2008, when he resigned after his election to the presidency.
